Suburb Profile - North Perth

By 1895 North Perth had emerged as a suburb in its own right. Four years later, it was declared a Road District and in October 1901, gazetted as a municipality. The North Perth Council was in existence from 25 October 1901 to 22 December 1914

One of the main attraction is the Beatty Park Leisure Centre which is located 3km north of Perth CBD and was originally built for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. It is owned and operated by the Town of Vincent. A total refurbishment took place in 1993, with the best of the old being combined with an exciting new facility. The new Beatty Park Leisure Centre opened in July 1994 and now comprises a 50m 8-lane outdoor pool, a 30m dive pool, a 25m indoor lap pool with adjoining freeform pool, sauna/spa/steam room, aerobics room, circuit gym, retail shops, cafés, creche, office space and a series of activity rooms. The Centre still has spectator seating for approximately 5,000 people.

Other attractions include Loftus Recreation Centre, Vincent Library and many parks and reserves.
