Mr Noel Dyett of Victoria has been re-elected as the 2009 President of the Real Estate Institute of Australia, based in Canberra.
Mr David Airey of Western Australia has been elected as his deputy and will serve as the 2009 Vice President.
The REIA is the national association for the real estate profession in Australia, and these men were elected at its November meeting.
The REIA is a politically non-partisan organisation that provides research and advice to the Federal Government, Opposition, media, and the public on a range of issues affecting the property and housing market.
It has eight members, the State and Territory Institutes, through which approximately 80 per cent of all Australian real estate agencies are represented.
The REIA focuses on Federal issues affecting the industry, including taxation, regulation, interest rates, training and much more.
Mr Dyett said housing affordability generally and the housing shortage on the eastern seaboard were core social and political issues which the Commonwealth had to properly address.
Mr Airey, an established agent from Perth’s western suburbs will continue in his current role as Deputy President to the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA), and said he was looking forward to the challenges of working on state and federal issues to produce the best outcomes for members and consumers.
"It’s also pleasing to see a greater representation of WA agents on the national body," he said.
